Hi, I’m KD, aka Karen Dougan, owner and operator of Kreative Design & Longarming. My love for sewing and crafting started at a very young age – all inspired by my mom and “Far-Far Grandma”. Fast forwarding, in 1999, when we were stationed in Tucson, AZ, several of my friends were quilters and/or scrapbookers. They inspired me to dive into these two crafts – and Boy, did I! Several moves thereafter, we landed in Bend, OR in 2012. As I got back into taking quilting and bag classes, I realized that we had moved to a quilter’s/crafter’s haven. Our area has 7 quilt stores, several big box fabric stores, numerous classes and workshops, a handful of quilt guilds, private organizations giving back to their community plus retreat opportunities galore. I am so lucky to be surrounded with so many talented, welcoming, knowledgeable people who share their skills, passion, and tricks with me.
In the late summer of 2016, I made a huge career move leaving a corporate job and joining one of my favorite quilt stores, Quilt Works, as one of their Longarmers. After several months of top-notch training, my passion for longarming was over the top for me. For the past several years I have had the privilege of working with such amazing, talented customers who bring their masterpieces to us to be quilted. I truly love my job! When we found out that Quilt Works was closing by the end of August 2019, my husband and I decided to buy the longarm business so I could continue to serve our wonderful quilting community near and far. I look forward to working with you and being a small part in completing your work of art.
